How to format and upload a Withholding Tax payment file on Remita

  To Format the upload file:
  • Key in the details of the beneficiary(s) in the format provided (see screen shot below) and format the content of upload file to 'Text'

         

  • Ensure that the TIN Numbers entered in the upload file are valid TIN
  • Ensure the dates (Contract Date and Pay Period)are entered correctly (10 digits)
  • Ensure that there are no special characters in the Upload file (e.g. -, ( ) ‘ “ = % & / ! { { [ ] } e.t.c.)
  • Delete the ‘Header Row’ before uploading the payment file into the system
  • Save the file on your device

To Upload Withholding Tax (WHT):

  • Visit the Remita website www.remita.net
  • The initiator should login with the correct user credentials (i.e. your username, password and Organization ID)
  • Click the sub-menu ‘Pay Taxes’ under the ‘Payments’ menu

         

  • Click the box labeled Type of Tax and select ‘Withholding Tax (WHT)’
  • Click the ‘Browse’ button, select the file from the file location and click the ‘Preview’ button.
  • Once the details are satisfactory click the ‘Submit’ button and any of the Approvers can log into the system and approve the payment.
